If you've made it this far, then I'm impressed!

This website has taken a few months to put together and has largely been inspired by the recent Lord of the Rings movies, which in general (despite some glaring issues) have made a splendid attempt at honouring Tolkien's works. Especially the extended versions of the films.

Tolkien's patron saint is St John the Evangelist [credited with writing the Gospel of John, Revelation, and other apostolic letters];

" ...as to my name. It is John: a name much used and loved by Christians, and since I was born on the Octave of St John the Evangelist, I take him as my patron... " [Letters p.397].

John's Gospel is filled with hidden meaning and symbolism flowing from his Judaism and understanding of the messianic fulfillment in Christ. Light and Dark are especially evocative in his writing as are the numbers and language he uses when explaining things.

It would seem St Johns prayers for Tolkien had their effect.

John Ronald Reul Tolkien, has accomplished a work that is filled with Light; and like St John, evangelizes, but in a subtle way.

I hope you have enjoyed the read here at www.mythictruth.net and have had your experience of the Lord of the Rings deepened. You can download a PDF of the entire site here [1.5Mb - last updated, 01 September 2007].
